PickUp 101’s Surefire Attraction Secrets provides a good start for guys who are not accustomed to talking with women on a regular basis.

On Disc 1, Foolproof Opening, seduction community aficionados will either be in tears or have a quiet chuckle when Lance Mason reveals the truth behind Style’s famous “dental floss” opener. My favorite piece of advice on this CD had to do with body language. The PickUp 101 instructors explain how slowing down your movements conveys power and confidence to others and how they sometimes have their students do things at quarter-speed to emphasize that point.

In the second CD, Storytelling, the instructors explain how a good story to use when talking to women is one that conveys your personality. Daniel Johnson goes as far as to say that the story doesn’t need to be true. I disagree with this. If someone tells me an awesome story that draws me into their reality, it’s obvious that I’ll want to know more not only about them, but about the details surrounding that story because it sounded like so much fun. How much more will they choose to lie before they just admit they made it up? That flaw aside, the instructors tell some funny stories of their own. Sean’s impression of a girl with a strong Boston accent in track 7 had me laughing out loud!

In Disc 3, Playful Banter, Lance makes the point early on that banter has nothing to do with sarcasm which seems to be a problem for many seduction devotees whose cocky/funny comes across more like arrogant/mocking. It’s fun to listen to him explain this and I got the impression that this is a guy I’d want to hang out with because he seems easygoing and personable. That is, unless you’re the karaoke-singing Republican he uses in one example, but I don’t think he’ll bust on you too much!

In the final CD, Direct and Indirect Game, Lance points out that when flirting with women, laughter acts as a release of sexual tension and that it’s up to you to keep building the tension to keep the interaction sexual. He also explains his “movie moment” technique which is dependent as much on tonality, eye contact, and body language as it is in the actual words that are said. Hearing him act it out is helpful when you’re trying to understand how much energy to put into the exchange.

The Bonus DVD is like an infomercial for the workshops, but it’s reassuring to see the people you’ve been hearing and to see how they move, how they carry themselves, and their body language in general.

Overall, Surefire Attraction Secrets doesn’t focus very much on seducing women for sex, but on how to be more comfortable speaking with women. It’s very easy to understand what they teach since they’re not overwhelming you with technical jargon. The instructors come across like friends trying to help you out instead of some know-it-all, superstitious gurus who claim to have all the answers. I’d recommend this to guys who want to improve their social skills, but those interested in seduction and sex should buy something more advanced.
