Herbals ColumnHello, gentlemen.

This is a long one so I’m going to get straight to the question:

Tynan,

My name is Zack and I’m into pickup. If I’m hanging out with a girl i like and a bunch of my guy friends at the same time, what is a good way to make her attracted to me in spite of my friends who all have decent game? Instead of winging each other we tend to compete over girls more often. I don’t mind competetion, (it’s fun and we’re such good friends that at the end of the day we just end up laughing about it later) I just want to have as many cards stacked in my favor as possible. Thanks a lot man.

-Zack

Hey Zack,

While it’s obviously good to have friends, they can actually get in your way a lot of the time. The best answer in this situation is to simply find friends that are not as cool as you. If they’re lame people who
watch TV and eat cheeze puffs all day then you’ll have no problem shining over them.

If you do decide to downgrade your friends you will get higher quality girls, though, so you’ll still have high quality people around you.

Still, some people may not be eager to ditch their friends so what can you do if they’re still around?

First of all, you want to make a good impression. Your friends won’t be prepared, so use that to your advantage. Always have a box of chocolates, a teddy bear, and some flowers ready to go. When your
friends are sitting around joking with her, start giving her the gifts one at a time. She will wonder what she’ll be getting next and will be tricked into thinking about you.

With her attention divided between you and your friends, you need to make sure that you make the most of the time she spends focusing on you.

What’s impressive in your life? Do you have a cool car? How about a watch? Use whatever money you have to make it seem like you’re a lot wealthier so that you’re in a different status class than your friends.

Also, don’t read newsletters on April first because they might be April fools jokes!

I won’t leave you hanging, though, Zack. That would be mean.

You DO want to set yourself apart, but you want to do it by showing that you’re a leader in your group. That doesn’t mean to boss people around, but it means to take responsibility for the fun that the group has and plan activities and stuff like that.

Also, prop up all of your friends. This will serve two purposes - FIRST it shows that you’re not going to change who you are just to get a girl. You love your friends and you show it.

Second, it makes it seem as though you’re not particularly interested. While your friends are chasing her, she’ll be interested in the one guy who ISN’T chasing - you.

That doesn’t mean to sit around and be aloof, though. Do that and she’ll forget about you. Be the center (or as close to the center) of attention, but don’t give her all of your attention. Act as though she isn’t there and let her become sucked into your world, rather than you rearranging your world to accommodate her.

Does that make sense?

And one last thing - go out and find girls. Don’t rely on girls that happen to hang out with you and your friends…

Have a great April Fool’s day and make sure to totally disregard everything I said in the first half!

Sig

  1. LOL… you had me for a second! I was like, “it doesn’t seem very practical to be carrying around flowers, candy etc… what’s this guy thinking?”

Oh well… I should’ve know, after a buddy of mine sent me a video of flying penguins that I should take everything with a grain of salt today ;-)
