Sure, they say rock stars get all the girls. But ever met one offstage? So put down that Guitar Hero game, get to the magic store, and create one of those weird David Copperfield surveys. It’s time to watch the other David and Corin in their greatest pickup battle yet on Neil Strauss’s Rules Of The Game. Then get ye to the blog and learn to stand out from the masses. (And, for more sensitive and easily impressionable viewers, never misrepresent yourself or lie or wear top hats - be your best self…)

I know Married With Children is not playing on Fox every weekday anymore, but I am suprised people do not recognize David, unless they are just cutting the video of all those people that do.
I’m finding these videos to be getting more ridiculous with each episode. I do find them entertaining but I think they are going in the wrong direction.

I’ve been wondering about the recognizing as well. Wrong direction in what way YSB?

In regards to the David question, Neil Strauss’s MySpace Blog states, “[i]n most of the approaches, the women didn’t recognize David; this was made clear to us when we watched the full footage afterward. When he was recognized, we didn’t use or count the approach.”
Strauss states on his MySpace Page that the videos are an attempt to teach the game in eight lessons and they represent a “real-life extreme pickup competition between Corin and David.”
I was under the impression that the purpose of the videos was to demonstrate the material from the community works. However, they are making a straw man argument (Corin being the straw man). Every mission, Corin is assigned a role to play, but the manner he plays that role is a complete caricature of how a person of that nature would function in “real-life.”
Whether you are trying to be like James Bond, a Rich Guy who buys girls drinks, or a successful musician, it is highly unlikely that any of those people in real life would even remotely resemble the way Corin is playing those characters. It would only be a “real-life” competition if Corin really tries to play those characters. The point is to show that the material from the game will work in the most outrageous situations, NOT that exaggerating the worst behaviors in certain personality types will certainly fail.
So in answer to your question, I feel that the videos are going in the wrong direction in that they are becoming more ridiculous as each video is released. I have no issue with David’s behavior being ridiculous, but I do with Corin’s, because it belies the purpose of the missions, which is to provide a real-life competition.
