UPDATE: I’ve posted my choices for top dating coaches of 2007.
Thundercat has revealed his choices for top pickup artists for 2007, and I must say, I wasn’t overly surprised but was disappointed in a few of his choices.
Here’s a recap:
1. Mystery
2. Neil Strauss
3. AFC Adam Lyons
4. Swinggcat
5. Brad P
6. Mehow
7. Zan
8. Stephen Nash
9. Matador
10. Johnny Soporno
Ok, no joke, Mystery is WAY up there for all that he’s accomplished this year. You can read my anti-Mystery rant here, but I do have LOTS of good things to say about him. Thundercat covered many of my points in his post, which I’ll recap in my Top Dating Coaches of 2007 later this week.
Neil Strauss, well that’s another obvious choice. I agree with Thundercat on Neil.
AFC Adam Lyons. Never heard of him, therefore probably wouldn’t include him on my list.
Swinggcat… this guy is probably pretty good with women, but from what I saw of him on a Double Your Dating DVD, he creeped me out.
Brad P. This guys the real deal. I actually had dinner with him a few times while I lived in LA this summer. He’s genuine and charismatic. He looks like Mystery, or a rocker guy with black hair, tats, tall and skinny. A good choice for Thundercat to make. On an interesting note, I wasn’t impressed with Brad P before I met him. I thought his emails were lame and his content overdone, but after meeting him, and after he tweaked his content and I invested more into him I found him very congruent and innovative.
Mehow: I don’t get the big deal about this guy. I saw him at a Mystery Method seminar and thought he wanted to be known more as a “pickup artist” rather than just an attendee who wanted to get it “this area” handled. Mehow had a weird vibe, at least to me, and he wanted to make something of himself in the seduction community. Any of you have experience with him? He seems to be trying to run on the coattails of Mystery and gang.
Zan seems like a genuine guy. I really don’t know much about him other than he haves a good outlook towards women.
I’m a big fan of Stephen Nash and his teachings. I’ve become good friends with him, and we talk every month or so. He’s in a relationship now with a great woman and he definitely helped me reign in my game after I was confused by the many methods out there. He really is the real deal, and I recommend his ebook “How To Get A Girlfriend“.
Apart from using the oldest of old routines during Vh1’s The Pickup Artist, Matador seems to have his game together. I’m not sure how I feel about one of the Top 10 though.
I think Johnny Soporno used to be part of the Mystery Method lounge a few years back. I also think he’s in the adult entertainment industry as a producer or something. No doubt that helps out with his game, apart from that (and hopefully it’s the same guy) I’m not sure I know anything else about him.
What is your opinion of Thundercat’s Top 10 Pickup Artists of 2007? Any you would include or not include? Give us some reasons why/why not!

its interesting to hear opinions. i’ve never seen any of them in the field so everything to me is based on heresay… but i do believe that these guys must be good.
personally i’ve been really digging the teaching of stephen nash lately.. as im no loger into club game he relates to me more
i’m also a fan of the master the vibe guys

I’m really confused about this AFCadam guys… TC said it, he said it too…
They (himself and tc) say he uses absolutely no “game”… and that he does nothing but building social circles…
…but then, he has a ton of videos of him approaching women on the street with typical openers…
he has videos teaching routines and qualification and disqualification and openers etc…… i don’t get it really.

How can you have not of heard of AFC Adam?
He spoke at the Hollywood conference this year and is highly regarded in the UK.
He featured prominently on the recent documentary on the Pick Up scene - The Rules of Seduction.
You can see from this that he clearly has very tight game.

Love to hear some opinions on the top 10. But, i think David DeAngelo “should” be on the top of the list near style and mystery. Double D has take it all, and covered it all. And he’s like the “play maker”. He made an interview with every one of the gurus. So i think he’s the best.

here are some videos of AFCAdamLondon’s mischief
e.g. one minute street game kiss close

about zan, he’s definitely the real deal as far as being a ladies man goes, however his truths, while powerful and real, may be difficult for newbies to adopt.
for one, he doesn’t give guys the false sense of power they like getting from ‘cocky funny’, ‘i am the prize’, ‘negs’, ‘who give a shit what she thinks’ and so on. zan actually says that ‘your power with women comes from letting her have power over you’, meaning that your admiration for her is the biggest tool you have to seduce her. this is very true, however can be very easily confused with neediness. although zan emphasizes again and again that it is very far from neediness, it’s not easy for many newbies to truly relate to this.
my point is - the best player is not necessarily the best teacher.
another guy i like a lot is BradP, totally different than zan but very cool in his own right
i find mystery doing more damage than good to his followers, Neil Strauss is guilty of the same in my opinion. matador is not much without mystery imho.
the other guys are good, Johnny Soporno i didn’t hear of until now, i should check him out
all the best

It seems that some of these are on the list not because they’re so great, but because they made extra efforts with their marketing this last year. Just because they’re name is hot in the community doesn’t mean they’re top ten.
DavidD DEFINITELY should have been on there. I’d say Lance Mason and Carlos Xuma have been big contributers…though Lance Mason more in the last year.
Comment by The Saint on 10 January 2008:
Re AFC Adam, I think what Thundercat means is that although Adam has tight Game he has found a lifestyle that gives him so much social proof there isn’t a need to use Game. In effect, Adam has evolved……..
Comment by Johnny on 10 January 2008:
AFC Adam Lyons spoke at the 2007 PUA Summit in Hollywood (www.puasummit.com) and got a standing ovation! You can watch his speech on the DVD, but he really is amazing.
Another guy I would reccomend to be on the top 10 list would be The Asian Playboy, he is the only interracial dating coach out there and was awarded the best Asian Pick Up Artist during the summit. His new company is the ABCs of Attraction (www.abcofattraction.com)
Comment by PolishFalcon on 11 January 2008:
Hmm, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Adam this year. This guy is the real thing. Incredibly warm vibe, not overdone, not relying on tricks and such (well, he has some :), but on being congruent, friendly with a good vibe.
Honestly, I wish I could be as cool as that guy is. Whereas Mystery, for that matter, freaks me out.
Oh, And I’ve had the pleasure of meeting a couple of Charisma Arts instructors this year and these guys are cool, too. Strange that no CA dude made the list…
Comment by LexIcon on 11 January 2008:
I’m a really big fan of the Real Social Dynamics crew. Do they get no love because they are the “villians” of The Game and the community?
Comment by gigi on 11 January 2008:
nah.. Neil Strauss’ book gave them a bad name and that book was the ticket into the community for many.
Business wise they didn’t do anything more nasty than any other PUA. comparing to Mystery and Style’s exploits (Annihilation Method and Mind of Mystery), any other PUA is a saint from heaven.
Comment by Johnny Soporno on 18 April 2008:
Heh - I was completely blind-sided by my inclusion in Thundy’s list; I don’t really think about myself as being a ‘pick up artist’ at all, and the things I’m teaching are decidedly NOT meant for picking girls up…
I suppose I should point out that the EFFECT of adopting my paradigms and propagating my messages to women very often inspires at least passionate appreciation from them… and that ain’t bad
Meanwhile, regarding the others on the list, I’ve met nearly all of them…
Mystery and Style are both solid Players, and neither of them needs anything more said. Matador falls into the same camp as Mystery, and plays his Game with precision.
AFC Adam is a really bright, playful guy, insightful and socially mature…. his Game is heavily ‘entourage’ centered, and works well with his flamboyant nature
I haven’t met Swingcat yet; but Brad P, Mehow, and Zan are all solid, and despite their having fundamentally dissimilar methods, all three have my respect for their effectiveness!
In particular, Zan and I tend to approach things from very similar mindsets, and accomplish basically the same kinds of enduring successes, but Zan is dedicated to helping women satisfy their cravings for romantic fantasy - whereas I am anti-romance, and dedicated to ensuring that my playmates know EXACTLY what I’m offering them, and what I’m not.
I don’t know Stephen Nash yet either
That said, Jeffy from RSD, and Sean Messenger (formerly pickup101, now on his own) both deserve recognition, as they are superlative Players, each with their very-own brand of Game.
Anyway, I invite everyone to check out my free 5+ hour long video-seminar, available FREE for downloading from my website: http://www.WorthyPlayboys.com/philosophy-seductive-reasoning.html
(and you may freely redistribute them as you wish.)
One favor, I ask - PLEASE take notes for yourself as you watch - these videos are FILLED with major paradigmatic shifts and RADICAL reframing. If you don’t take notes, you’ll miss an alarming portion of the critical value!

You’re right, AFC Adam shouldn’t be #3
He should be #1
Comment by O rion. on 20 September 2008:
Where are the Charisma guys? Or Rion Williams? And hasn’t anyone heard of Harlequin?
Best I ever saw. I would write a giant post about why he should be number 1 but all those who meet him and have seen what he can do know they don’t need to go to thundercat for a his blessing of some ranking. I’ve been in a London club when all the companies seemed to be in there also and Harlequin was leaving with four girls who seemed to be fighting over him before I saw any kind of success from any of the so called PUA instructors that were demonstrating that night.
Anyone that gets an opportunity to meet Zan, Johnny or Harlequin should jump at the chance. I can’t believe I missed their gig in Brussels. Three of my favorite guys in one city?
Johnny, please do another even soon.
