Here’s a question I get a lot. In general it goes something like this “there was just a TV show on the VH-1 network in the United States about dating science, including material similar to that of the The Mystery Method. How has the VH-1’s The Pickup Artist show changed what you do?”
The VH-1 show has changed the game, at least in the US, and anyone who tells you differently is lying to you, probably because they want to sell you something.
We respect our members, and we respect your intelligence. We’re not professional salespeople. We’re men like yourselves, who decided at different points in our lives that we wanted to get the dating side of our lives handled. We want to help you do the same. So we make sure that every OAP has real content in it that will help your game. Sure, we also talk about our products – someone has to pay the bills – but we will never send you endless emails using scare tactics nor prey on peoples’ insecurities to get them to buy something.
What we will never do is send you breathless emails pretending that people are “FREAKING OUT” over the 800th “LAST CHANCE” to spend thousands of dollars (before your next 800 “LAST CHANCES” that will presumably cause you to FREAK OUT all over again). Fear not. The OAP is here whether you buy anything from us or not.
Yeah, it’s changed things. Certain openers and routines have become well-known. Being very high-energy and “gamey” will sometimes make people question whether “you’ve seen the show”.
Rather than pretend the problem didn’t exist, we dealt with it head on and are even better for it now:
• We reviewed the material that we teach at bootcamps to make sure that we’re not relying on routines that are similar to those on the show. We’re not and we haven’t been, but this was a great exercise nonetheless that tightened up our bootcamps even more and made them even better. See recent reviews here.
• We included even more bonus routines in the Routines Manual (see above) so you always have a ton of choices of where to go with a specific interaction.
• We reviewed Magic Bullets and The Interview Series CDs to make sure that members who relied on the book weren’t risking any danger (they’re not; both are significantly advanced in a different direction from what was used in the show).
We also have specific strategies that you can use if you’re questioned about “the show” when you approach a woman. The easiest one of these is to feign ignorance. If they persist trying to talk about it, pretend that you think they’re talking about the show “Beauty and the Geek”. And change the subject, away from the show and away from whatever you were doing that got them started on the subject.
Actually, the show has probably been good for what we teach at TMM. Average guys who rely on the same old stuff, or on the type of stuff that’s on the TV show, are getting blown out faster. Guys who take a bootcamp with us or invest in the interview series or Magic Bullets are even further ahead of the competition.

Pickup 101 is famous for their “last chance to buy……program.” Really weak marketing.
