With all the hype around Kosmo being crowned a master pickup artist, those within the community know that this honor is rarely achieved. Becoming a master pickup artist in my opinion is something that happens over years, not months. A realization that many aspiring pickup artists come to in their journey is that they become less in control over how people react to them, but they can choose how to react to others and situations - and that is what makes all the difference.In this community everyone has different goals.Here are two different master pickup artists:

Free-flowing Pickup Artists

Free-flowing pickup artists are guys who instead of focusing around routines, gimmicks, gambits and other pre-memorized thoughts try more for a well-rounded approach to pickup. They like the creative technique that they feel is the glory of pickup. Doing things on the fly and getting the reward. These pickup artists are right-brained. They focus on developing their lifestyle, social circles, education, and life experiences. They pull, but they also reject some women because they place more importance on a longer term relationship with a extremely unique and classy woman. That said, they also have the choice because their friends bombard them with date requests. “I know this great girl you should go out with”. They know how the game is played, but they choose at times to take a backseat in the conversations and let their qualities shine through clever conversation instead of blatantly running sets. These are the type of guys that “naturals” or the social guys in real life fall into. These pickup artists do better in relationships because they have the skills to take things as they come and react on the fly without previous thought. They can be silent and deadly and try not to make pickup a methodical approach. These guys would follow systems that David Deangelo, How To Get A Girlfriend, Master The Vibe and others perpetuate.

Rigid Pickup Artists

Many guys that fall into the rigid master pickup artist category tend to have had no success with women previously. These are the men that are probably more left-brained. They glory in the systematic breakdown of pickup. They run a numbers game. They try and catch up for lost time by advancing their game as far as it will go (to a large degree). They find power within themselves with they find a system that works, and don’t like the risk that comes from being too “creative” in their pickup approach. They tend to steer away from longer term commitments, or always look for the next best thing. These pickup artists don’t do as well in relationships because they’ve had a system in place which brings results. When the unexpected nature of a relationship hit, they tend not to have a good plan, as there isn’t really any set approach to plan for. They usually escape from their previous identity, shaping themselves towards the “ideal” pickup artist as they envision it. This is neither a bad or good thing, but it’s definitely something I’ve noticed. These guys would follow systems like The Mystery Method, Pickup 101, and others.

When all is said and done, aspiring to be a pickup artist is a noble endeavor when done right - and we all know it takes more than 8 weeks of television shows to make you a “master pickup artist”.

    I think that most of us (that are AFCs, or at least former AFCs, since no one else reads this stuff) don’t have the “right”-brain to be free-flows artists right from the beginning. Whatever made us AFC, also left our right brain vast and unused. The left is the only we have.

    The problem is that free-flow style cannot be taught to an AFC. The free-flow way is wisdom wired into the right brain; it is either developed naturally or through extensive use of rigid techniques. The thing is, the the rigid pick-up can be taught. As opposed to wisdom, rigid methods are just information. It can be broken down to theories, it can be explained, and written down. This information can be absorbed using the existing left-brain skills. The AFC has no other choice than start his PUA career using rigid pickup.

    If he persists with rigid pickup, he will eventually build the experience needed to apply free-flow methods. Every interaction will constantly improve his confidence, his body language, and spontaneity. Help him build the right-brain skills necessary to become a natural, necessary to execute free-flow pick-up.

    For whatever reasons, some PUAs stay rigid artist for the rest of their lives, each AFC that wants to become a free-flow PUA has to go through a rigid phase before.

    I see what your saying Loveslope. Moving past the rigid phase might be the best thing to do for most mPUAs IMO. It seems that to become a master pickup artist requires a certain wisdom that only comes through self-experimentation after the rigid phase?

    Totally in agreement with loveslope. I find myself being more free-flowing mostly because I forced myself to analyze the rigid routines and try to find out what really was going on beneath the words. I felt out of place and uncomfortable using canned material. Yes the canned stuff does work, very well, and it is absolutely amazing. But I almost felt undeserving of using it, having not yet earned the experiences to be annoyed getting hit on by women all the time. However in terms of rigidity, I love TMM because of how clear and concise it is, and incredibly accurate as well. Plus there’s a certain excitement about it that I just don’t get from the other camps. *shrug* TMM = energy man. I love it!

    I’ve to admit I fall into the last category when it comes to approaching. But I haven’t trouble maintaining relationships, as described in the article.

    I think that the last category of pua’s has more potential than the first. I explain why I think so: Naturals often don’t know why the’re doing well, so they can’t and won’t analyze their game and get better. And they see no urgency to improve their game, that they think already of is working already quite well for them. In some way I can’t blame them.

    But someone that begins from scratch, knows exactly why one thing influences the other in the game. Because he learns the system right from the beginning. That is why guys like Mystery, Gambler and Style, who where once AFC’s, are so good in the game nowadays.

    It is better to know a formula, the theory behind things, and be flexible, than to act ‘only’ on experiece (I didn’t say experience is bad; it is good to have it) and panic when things in the enviroment change fast.
