The Pickup Artist Episode 2: Impressions

by Editor on August 13, 2007

Well…

If you missed last week, check out what other people from the community thought about Episode 1.

They started with a peacocking exercise with the winner getting a private practice lesson (?) from Tara, a girl friend of Mystery. Fred (45) went completely overboard and looked like a teenage hoodlum from Kings Cross in London, and some didn’t have any coordination. Spoon (asian guy) did well and won the match.

The guys were then taught openers, and Spoon got the private coaching.

They went to the club.

Oh man… It was agonizing watching the next 20 minutes, not because of the guys, but because of the recognition within myself of stuff that I’ve done.

The indian needed the most encouragement to break his bad habits, and Spoon was really inspirational. He said, “Sometimes I go into a club and forget who I am” sometimes I feel that also. So I can feel where he’s coming from.

Jodi (fat guy) was allowed to give immunity to two fellow aspiring pickup artists. He gave them to Kosmo (the breakdancer), and the pretty boy that bleached his hair plantium blond. Mystery ended up eliminating Spoon because he surrendered.

Favorite quote of the night:

“It’s pathetic, it’s needy, and quite frankly (turns to Mystery) it’s rather tacky!” – Matador lol

I thought this episode was much much better than the first. In this one we really got a better look at Mystery’s personality and it showed that he, Matador and Jdog really care about improving the lives of these guys.

That scene where Spoon was in the club and pretty much had a break-down was heart wrenching. I felt his pain, cause I know that feeling, I’ve been there before. Then, when he entered the trailer to talk to the PUAs you could really sense the compassion that Mystery and Matador had. Finally, when he went back in and opened that set I jumped out of my seat and started clapping, I was so fired up.

I really think this episode did an excellent job of showing what the community is all about, improving lives.

It’s Joe D. As in Joe Doyle. Keep it fresh.

Watching Spoon open that set felt like watching my favorite NFL team score a touchdown.

Yeah I was really hoping that Spooon would make it through. I know he needed a lot of help and they were very willing to give him the help. But Like Mystery said. We can’t force you to learn this stuff.

I honestly felt if he hadn’t fallen on the grenade, the older gentleman would have been out.

Sometimes the editing gives false information. For example, on the Pep Talk clip on VH1 Mystery says, “Meeting a woman. On average that timeline is seven hours.” When he probably said,”Meeting a woman and getting her to bed. On average that timeline is seven hours.”

I thought this episode was also a lot better than the first, and Joe D opening that 5 set looked cool confident and amazing for someone whose first real night it was. I qam glad Fred, the older guy has been kept in because I think he out of everyone needs the most help. At 45 and still a virgin, he needs to get some game,. and I think once he learns that he has to go full into this and can be dignified in it, then he could become good.

Kosmo should be out for breakdancing, period. That scene where he did that made me shudder. in the words of Will Smith:

Rule #1, know ya name,
If it ain’t Usher, Justin or Hammer, then we can touch ya
Rule #2, never do a dance you can’t do, why stupid,
Cause you can’t do it”
