I liked these conversations. I understand the intent here is to show examples of how conversation can flow. This is clearly demonstrated.

But to me, it just sounds acted. Not just on the male voices (to some extent you expect they will be performed) but also in the girl?s responses. I have a lot of experience in the dramatic arts and I have a good sense of when an actor is putting it on (faking it) and when they really in the moment (and sound real). Here it just sounds put on. The audio quality and background sound also feel produced.

Now don?t get me wrong. As I said, I enjoyed listening to this and can see how they are useful but I?m annoyed at the marketing as ?real conversations?. I suspect the dialogue is an accurate representation of conversations that have taken place. But this should then be defined as re-enactments or idealisations of real conversations. As it stands, I can?t help feeling like these guys are treating me like me dishonestly.

The audio quality was far too good to have been recorded in field - it's in stereo for gods sake. Let's be realistic here - have you every heard of a high quality STEREO conversation being recorded with a concealed (and hence mono) microphone?

And to clarify, I'd recommend those books for *you*, not for your son right now. There's nothing better for an adolescent male than the presence of a strong male role model.

Hi Brian,
Our anonymous friend is mostly correct, albeit harsh in his condemnation.

I'd recommend Stephen Nash's "How to Get a Girlfriend" eBook, and David Deida's "Way of the Superior Man."

The key here is to lead your son by helping him discover what works for him. I work with Big Brothers here in New York as a mentor, and my 14 year-old "little" has asked for woman advice from time to time. As much as I'd love to spend every session talking about his social life, its not what he needs. Its important not to put your own agenda on your son, but to let him grow and evolve at his own pace with your guidance.

Best,
Christian
