I thought the interview didn’t go very well. Conan was making a big joke out of the whole thing.
Comment by Seduction Chronicles on 11 April 2007:
Yummy, I agree. I thought he was portrayed more as “weirdo” more than anything. Although, Mystery handled it well.
Did you notice Kevin Pollack’s mouthing to Tina Fey at the end?
Comment by Tha-Flash on 12 April 2007:

Even a master at seduction falls to a Global D.L.V (Display Of Lower Value)
it disgusted me when Kevin Pollack’s A.F.C Gestures won the crowds lauphter. ( Average Frustrated Chump ) As for Conan, it’s his job to bust peoples balls. From the questions Conan asked and his body language and phycology, i’m deducing he read the book, he was interested. otherwise Conan and Kevin Pollack are major A.F.C’s masked by the ignorence of fame. If Mystery stood up and D.H.V’d (Display of Higher Value)and Proved a valid point And said to all the women in the crowd ” Am i Right? ” the women would all cheer with applause of Aprovel. I was an A.F.C once, and the seduction community pulled my out of my house ; )
Props to you mystery

Mystery did not handle it well. He got the shit negged out of him.
Comment by Anonymous on 16 April 2007:
He handled it as best as anyone could, If the whole room, No the Whole world! see’s you as lower value, it’s almost imposible to break out of.
Business wise it was productive, even though he was sarounded by A.F.C’s
Comment by Chris on 16 April 2007:
Mystery handled it well, and left a positive impression. Conan’s job is to poke fun at the guests and to make the audience laugh. That’s a given.
Comment by VIc on 16 April 2007:
You guys are so negative. You guys care more about what the audience thought of Mystery than he did. Remember, approval seeking is AFC behavior. Who cares if everyone thought Mystery was a joke. It will only benefit those already involved in the Community becuase less people will want to listen to him because they think he’s joke, which means more women for us who aren’t skeptical.

rofl, I bet mystery and tina fey got it on shortly afterwards..
she was digging him.. at the end he looks over and puts a mint in his mouth
duh
Comment by jake on 16 April 2007:
Mystery is a joke. Didn’t you notice how Tina Fey moved to the far end of the couch as soon as mystery walked out? She was probably afraid of him. Mystery said something like “a girl doesn’t want to give her name to a stranger.” Duh I wouldn’t want to give my name to some ahole in goggles either! Any legit person who’s not putting up some outrageous front should have no trouble comfortably getting a girl’s name within 2 seconds of meeting her.
The “seduction community” has gone too far. You wanna know what an average frustrated chump is? It’s someone who pays money for a book that tells him wearing goggles like a freakin moron is what he needs to do in order to get laid!
Comment by Mark on 16 April 2007:
I think he did well considering that it is not socially acceptable for men to learn how to seduce women, which is why the whole interview Conan was ragging on him. (and for humor purposes) I know that he can be outrageous at times, but the guy knows about the underlying themes about attracting women that many guys often dont learn on their own. I bet he is crying all the way to the bank!
Comment by Davidow Midhache on 19 April 2007:
Sure, Conan made of Mystery, but since Mystery kept cool all the time, Conan became more of a clown.
A fun clown indeed, but still a clown. Meanwhile, Mystery never once excused himself or did’t stand up for his arguments and thus he became the alfa anyway.
Comment by JB on 19 April 2007:
Mystery handled it good enough.
I don’t really see a problem with that. You don’t always need to actively lower someone’s else status to look good.
IMO you first need to look good in your own eyes. And that is exactly how Mystery looked. Relaxed, cool and knowing his value. This is what women notice.
As for Conan O’Brien, yes he was making jokes of Mystery, but so what? It’s his job. And there was no real threat-eventually goggle jokes got old.
So Mystery just kept using passive strategy like giving him validation through dishonest laughing.
So yeah, I give Mystery credit.
Comment by julius on 23 April 2007:
Mystery did all right but he could have done better. He was taking it more seriously than Conan. He should have expected that going in, that Conan would be making fun of him–that’s what these late night guys do. He should have calibrated himself to Conan a little better. Maybe even outdoing him with the humor, making fun of Conan as an AFC.
He could have suggested, for example, that putting goggles on an AFC doesn’t make him a player. He could have intimated to the audience that Conan was an AFC, etc.

Actually, it was a success: Tina was totally in to Mystery about 30 sec - 1 min into this. As far as putting on a show of disinterest in response to Kevin’s insecure comments and ‘America,’ the body leaning/orientation doesn’t lie. She wanted to hate him so bad. Then she had to go walk off and change her panties. As for being AMOGed, water off a duck’s back; he held his frame. Wanted to cringe at first, but got sucked in. Since I haven’t seen Mystery in a while, it is good to see him holding his own and now prospering over at Venusian Arts.

Comment by Lorenzo on 29 May 2007:
After reading all the negative comments, I expected to see Mystery bombing out and getting humiliated on this clip. But to my surprise, he looked like he took command of the room and won the respect of everyone except Pollack (who was in desperate face-saving cockblock mode). The sarcastic giggles from the audience were only at the beginning and gradually turned into enthusiastc laughter and applause. Conan’s jokes were all appropriate tension-breakers. Conana was making fun of himself and his own incompetence at applying the Mystery Method, not at Mystery himself. Mystery exuded confidence with his body language, facial expressions, and tonality. The only thing less-than-perfect was his slightly dry-mouthed speech, but he did very well for someone who is presenting/defending a controversial subject on a major national TV show for the first time in his life.

Damn, I actually feel embarassed for this man. When he said “you don’t need to dress like a clown….” the audience burst with laughter, and anyone with common sense can tell the laughter was AT him, not with him, because he is dressed like a clown. I feel bad for this dude.
Comment by kat on 14 July 2007:
Mystery looked totally hot, he was so laid back, his body language was relaxed, he laughed at the AFC’s jokes, so Mystery won. he embodied what he sells. The guy in the goggles was doing a Jerry Lewis, and failed to make Mystery look an idiot.
Comment by Paul on 9 September 2007:
When I think of a true “pickup artist,” I immediately think of a garishly-dressed man in black nail polish who refers to himself as ‘Mystery.’ The man is a joke, a scam artist, and a failed magician. I’ve been in many bars, and no Goth dude with binoculars is picking up any women.
I knew of a few guys like ‘Mystery’ back in high school. They weren’t exactly dominating the social scene.
Comment by san on 9 September 2007:
mystery was trying to squeeze a lot of information in a very less time.. i think the reason he was looking kinda flustered is because people who have never read his stuff cannot understand what he was saying. Like how he was explaing d.h.v, or negs or venusianarts, and other pickup lingo in one sentence.. its would have been much nicer if he’d have kept it low level and very laymanish.
anyway, it was okay cuz it could have been worse the way things were going.. plus, i think the laugh track was forced with the audience laughing on cue everytime.

Too many stupid haters here. Even though mystery isnt a god. He’s a okey guy with supreme social skills.

for those people who think they are better than mystery, good for you!! how many people are as lucky as those rich, pretty, and gifted? if you are then good for you too! many of us have to struggle just to get food on the table, and have what it is to get a nice girl that we love each other. there are speed seduction and actually meeting a nice girl. And Keeping that girl in your life to be happy. how many times have you dated and broken up for reasons you know and have no control over? I know from now on, its not the matter of my looks but all those things mystery said, it is the experience gained by someone who tried thousands of times that i find good advice!
Comment by Grimm on 4 December 2007:
Lol, I find it funny the biggest complaint with Mystery is his clothing. Any woman who would judge solely on your clothes despite an amazing personality, charisma, and humor is not a woman worth dating. I say to hell with those types of women. Secondly, you have to know that Mystery goes for the more liberal type of women… What many people don’t know is that he prefers the stereotypical “club” type of girl. If you’re looking to pick up conservative women, then peacocking is probably not a good idea.
Comment by Kevino on 13 December 2007:
In the beginning I had a notion that Kevin Pollack felt threatened, and was sort of intimidated by Mystery. When he turns to Tina Fey and mouths out “wow”, its easy to see that hes trying to make Mystery look like a weirdo to her. Even though Kevin probably doesnt like Tina, hes still trying to win her approval by making Mystery look bad. I think its kind of interesting that Kevin Pollack is feeling threatened and he trys to cover it up by making other people look bad. Very AFCish.
Comment by Kevino on 13 December 2007:
Also this brings up another really interesting point. Mystery displayed so much confidence and powerful energy, that even a famous actor like Kevin Pollack felt intimidated.
Comment by Kiel on 15 December 2007:
Well done very subtle. Kevin is an AFC trying to be an AMOG with Tina sitting as far away as comfortably possible from him. And Connan wants to be intrigued but can’t because it’s his show and he has to appear alpha by making fun of Mystery, it’s what he does.
The two jokers that jumped out at me where Jake and Paul standard AFC’s trying to act AMOG. Guaranteed to be the two idiots wearing the exact same American eagle polos in the bar popped collar and gelled up hair. If you’re going to look like an idiot and have me take your girl you might as well have a friend, it only makes sense. So boys cheers to continually being AFC’s. So boys cheers to continually being AFC’s.
