A recent email from Venusian Arts:
Mystery invented a methodology and a name, reserved a website in that name, and created for the world a piece of knowledge - the Mystery Method - that changed all of our lives.
Years later, after his fame was secure, he entered into a 1-page agreement with someone he intended to have act as a business manager.
When Mystery later decided to end that 1-page agreement, he did so correctly and properly, serving 60 days written notice as required by the agreement.
But here it is, more than 90 days later, and Mystery’s former associate is still marketing bootcamps and products at that website, all branded with Mystery’s name, and without Mystery’s permission. He has also filed a restraining order against Mystery to prevent Mystery from using his “mysterymethod.com” domain.
Thus, we (Mystery, Matador, and I) are using the name “The Venusian Arts”.
Mystery is now exclusively involved with VenusianArts.com, where he continues to develop new ideas and new thinking on pickup. Mystery oversees quality control at Venusian Arts and nowhere else. He has a vision, and a direction, and he is not sitting still. To now see “felony lawsuit” threats of this sort, lobbed at someone special like Mystery, to whom we all owe a great debt, is just beyond the pale in our opinion. I am disgusted to think that Mystery’s success has made him a target of this sort.
The nature of Masters’ comments seem very detailed and implies access to inside knowledge. But Venusian Arts feels it is false in several ways and as such we must comment.
The claim that there is a “Felony Lawsuit” is a false statement as there is no such thing as a “felony lawsuit” in a civil suit. There are no charges by the government. Rather, there was a lawsuit filed by MMC and Savoy claiming ownership to the name “Mystery Method” and the business. The suggestion of “prison” strikes us as libelous since I’m not aware that any criminal proceedings are even being considered by authorities, which is much less than the writer of the comment appears to us to suggest.
I feel it is wrong for us to allow or condone the claim that the ownership of Mystery’s methodology and website should end up with anyone other than Mystery himself. Period.
We are resolute and I can assure you that we are not moved by petty threats of this type.
Please let’s get back to productive and substantive discussion about GAME, and keep things positive in spite of whatever shit occasionally gets thrown from the monkey bin.
-Lovedrop
Perhaps Savoy can shed some light on his side of the story?
UPDATE: Apparently, Master’s post wasn’t endorsed by Mystery Method LLC.
UPDATE 2: It’s OFFICIAL via the LA County District Court’s website, read the official filing here. (2mb)
UPDATE 3: Read about the injunction ruling.

Savoy’s voice has got to be the most grating and effeminate voice I have ever heard. No wonder Mystery left that fruit!
Comment by Sting on 10 February 2007:
the only thing i’d ever heard about Savoy before his blog came up was, “Savoy is a good man”, a comment made by Mystery himself many times. and in his blog, that is how he comes across.
Many things are known about Mystery, from the Game and otherwise. he comes across (from someone who’s never met him) a likable guy with the odd blown-up piece of behavior that comes with the smooth. Nobody has been cooler about the expansion of 101 different business’ all tweaking and then teaching HIS stuff.
in any case, Lovedrop playing seduction community politics suggests that VA are in the legal soup here, not MM.
I’m sure Mystery’s financial life has gotten a hell of a lot better for the partnership with Savoy - and he hasn’t been actively working for quite awhile (and isn’t scedhuled to in the near future, according to the VA website).
And the expansion of the MM business is probably more a reflection of Savoy’s work than Mystery’s - before Savoy came onto the scene, RSD were streets ahead of MM commercially.
Personally, as a student of the community, Mystery is a guy who has my good wishes, good will and even affection - and i think a lot of people feel the same way.
However, he is not above the law - lets all be patient and not jump to conclusions - and let the cards fall where they will.
few things in life are better than having a drink with an old, old friend you had a falling out with over something-or-an-other how-many-years-ago-was-it-now. hope thats VA and MM in a few years - that picture looks good.
cheers and
best for both parties,
Sting

Comment by Johnny Wolf on 12 February 2007:
Mystery has been screwed once again. Its hard to trust and feel passionately towards succeeding without the worry that one might take advantage. Nick Benedict is obviously trying to cover his own intrest as without Mystery Method he’d be no where…and without Mystery MM would be nothing. Which explains why they are trying to act like nothing’s happened and that Mystery is still on staff with them.
We cannot ignore this, I have fowarded the offical filing to a lawyer buddy of mine, and another that works for the DA’s office.
Comment by Donovan on 12 February 2007:
You don’t know all the circumstances. I don’t either. Nick is accomplished, even without MM, I wouldn’t be concerned with that. It’s neither the issue, or the problem.
The issue is what’s in the complaint. Are the accusations true or false? This is what it comes down to.
Comment by Masters on 13 February 2007:
My post was not endorsed by MM in any way, shape, or form. I intended not to write about the current lawsuit but the possible results of the VA having hacked our website the previous weekend, hence the penal code I quoted. I should not have made the now locked post and I’m sorry I did.
It’s too bad we can’t all fast forward past this drama to the future, see the results, and learn from all of this.
Comment by Jet on 23 February 2007:
Mystery good luck to you. I hope you get the MM website back in your control asap.
As far as I am concerned Nick has opened himself up for multiple lawsuits. He has made every attempt, on the TMM website, to imply that Mystery is still with the corporation. In addition to that, the change in website address was attributed to server issues.
These events indicate he is demonstrating a business DLV. His trustworthiness has disappeared and has been replaced with misrepresentation/advertising fraud.
Mystery has indicated he is not associated with TMM but Nick promotes him in the Team Bios and has his photo on the website in multiple places.
Who’s character can be trusted, Nick or Mystery…make up your own mind

I feel bad for Mystery, the man who change my life and everybody in the community. Believe he was Savoy’s and Papa’s mentor. Its funny how both of them betray there teacher.
This is the second time Mystery got screw over by somebody name Nick. First it was Nick Kho aka papa of RSD, now its Nick Benedict aka Savoy. How many times will Mystery get screw over by somebody name Nick. I don’t know what happen between Savoy and Mystery, What I do know is, Mystery should be in control of his own name and method. But life is not fair, and there are alot of jerks out there name Nick.
Comment by Donovan on 27 February 2007:
It seems as though alot of people are taking Mystery’s side. I can see that, Mystery has given so much to the community - heck he pretty evolved it along with Style in a major way.
But, if he did do something illegal and has put people’s careers in jeopardy in the process, then alas, he is still a mere mortal that is under the rule of law. No matter how great someone is, they shouldn’t be allowed to get away with it.
Two injunctions won… it seems as though the courts are agreeing with Nick. If its injustice, then thats what will surface in the long run, with whichever side winning.
Good luck to both.
Comment by Libertine on 10 March 2007:
I’m not surprised Mystery left MMC, I wouldn’t want to put my lifes work in the hands of losers like Captain Jack et al.
Good luck to Mystery, I sincerely hope he gets whats his back.

big drama for nothing, the only people who will win here are the lawyers.
Comment by MD on 2 April 2007:
My understanding is that Savoy was stealing from Mystery Method and Mystery thought that the Mystery Method . Com instructors lacked quality. So he left. On the other hand, I heard Mystery was sitting on his butte in Miami snorting coke and contributing nothing to the business, which is why Savoy felt justify in stealing.
OTOH I heard the other Nick from RSD just stopped working with Mystery because Mystery and him got in a personal fight, and there was no betrayal or crazy drama as described above.
Comment by Jet on 8 April 2007:
Yep I heard the same thing… Savoy was involved in inappropriate loans to himself from income earned.
At least he is congruent and continues to steal from Mystery.
BTW…Mystery could sit on his butt forever and receive income from Mystery Method. That’s why he had a manager (Savoy) in place with a revenue agreement managing the business. You don’t see any McDonald’s franchisees riping McDonald’s HQ off or crying that they work too hard and deciding to steal from the company.
Comment by Seduction Chronicles on 8 April 2007:
Too say that Savoy is a crook, or Mystery is out of line until a verdict has come through. That’s what court cases are for, to resolve disagreements. From what Savoy has told me, the guys that went over to Venusian Arts including Mystery (once) were receiving returns on their workshops because of a lack of quality in teaching. (Mystery Method has a quality money back guarantee on boot camps) So I’m not sure where you guys got this information… but hopefully its resolved soon.
Comment by Bomb Scare on 30 April 2007:
Gossip is fun, but none of of us outside the participants in this conflict will ever know for sure who said or did what to whom. At the end of the day, the courts will sort it out, and unless there is blatant evidence of misconduct, they will do so on the basis of the legal agreements between the parties and relevent precedents, not on what’s “fair.” Hopefully this will happen quickly and without the two sides spending too much on attorney’s fees.
However, one thing I am reasonably certain of, is that anyone who paid for a Mytery Method seminar after Mystery left the company has grounds for demanding a refund, on the basis of misrepresentation of what was being offered. If they paid for travel and hotel, then they probably have grounds to sue for those as well. Obviously, in most cases that’s going to be more of a pain in the ass that it’s worth, and there aren’t enough people in this group to merit a class action. But if you are in this situation, at the very least you might want to call up your credit card company and dispute the charges for the seminar.
Comment by JB on 21 June 2007:
Hmmm… I don’t know about any of this lawsuit crap, and don’t really care. I’ve heard two sides to this story, and am content to let the courts deal with it.
That said, I took a MM bootcamp about two weeks ago and it was WELL worth the price I paid. The instructor knew his shit like a college professor, taught it well, ensured we were “getting it”, and demonstrated his skillz by pulling ass on demo night. The followup by the business staff has been entirely professional.
Bottom line, I’m a happy, satisfied customer… and I’m leaving the bullshit and drama to the courts.

well, having listened to all those comments, i having being trained by mystery himself at a bootcamp in miami07, am sad that the master and yes he is a master to have analysed how women behave and behaved and work out in a way that is put onto paper format for us to use…
in nlp you have whats know as chunking up, ie looking at the bigger picture and then you have chunking down, ie forensic scientists use this method.
mystery has used his creative side , hes left handed to chunk down and put this creation onto paper…
those who he taught have stolen the works of a master , a genius, and its a shame that greed has taken over.
i do wish you mystery all the success that you deserve and get the site and all you intelectual properties back….

This is a great tragedy to the community, but it is a business as well. It’s kind of like the NFL. You have a league, the seduction community. You have teams, the businesses the create, teach, and promote seduction. You have the coaches, Savoy and Mystery (since this is about them). You have the players, the people who have been taught by and instruct for them. And you have the fans, the entire community.
For some fans their favorite is Savoy, for others it is mystery, and for still others it might be another master or guru. Sometimes a fan chooses their favorite team by familiarity, sometimes by a favorite player, or sometimes they just like the system of play. At game time they root for their favorites and hate on the others and sometimes they just enjoy the game. The season progresses and rivalries become more important throughout the playoffs, but at the end there are just two… Mystery Method vs. The Venusian Arts for the Super Bowl.
But the most interesting thing is… no matter who you are a fan of… when the season is over… all fans miss it. They are all still fans of the game.
I have some personal opinions on the lawsuit, but I am neither the Judge, Participants, or Jury, so when the outcome is decided…
I hope the things mystery created he has the legal rights to use, that the community can heal this great divide, and that the game continues to be enjoyable for all who participate and all who are fans.

this is a huge joke…nick benedict is aplain old loser…he used to be a nerd then mystery helped him by teaching him TMM. on top of that nick the prick shows his graditude by stabbing Mystery in the back and trying make it look lik mystery is still on mysterymethod.com website…why else would he want the name…and some of the things iv heard from the instructors like rokker the don, etc. there low quality losers they basically teach something close to total garbage.

I still don’t get it. Mystery came up with MM, why be a dick and try to take it from him. Fuck laws, it just makes sense to let him have it. He came up with a lot, why get legal about it.
Comment by Savoy on 5 May 2008:
Most people have never met either myself or Erik (”Mystery”). I understand that in such a case, it’s really easy to take Mystery’s side. After all, a lot of people have read The Game, and Mystery comes across as the hero of the book.
Of course, The Game was written by Neil Strauss, who Erik frequently refers to as his “best friend”. I have nothing against Neil, but he’s hardly an unbiased source on Erik’s true nature.
I would correct some comments in this thread though. There were never any loans from the company to me. I loaned money TO the company to get it off the ground and its never been an issue. Nor did Mystery ever “train” me. I never took a bootcamp with him and the first MM bootcamp I attended, I attended as an instructor. Nor does the current split have anything to do with the fact that Erik wasn’t working or meeting his commitment.
Just because someone is good at self-promotion and was at one time an innovator in the community does not mean that someone is an honest or ethical person. There were a lot of people who contributed to building Mystery Method between 2004 and 2006. There were agreements and contracts in place. Then all of a sudden, Erik and/or Stan (Matador) hacked the website, stole the passwords and the domain, and shut it down. We went to court to protect our interests.
Yes it’s weird that as a result of the courts rulings, we own Mystery Method. But that will sometimes happen when the other side does the sorts of things that Erik, Stan, and Chris did. Still, I remain open to a fair settlement that fairly splits the assets Erik and I created together when we were working together. If and when Erik is prepared to negotiate instead of demanding it all, then I’ll see him at the negotiating table.
Fortunately, courts don’t care about drama; they get to the facts.

Love systems is a great company with great instructors. Savoy is a genius. They should use their own name instead of working off of mystery’s fame. I don’t know what happened technically, but the mystery method is mystery. Not love systems. Everyone sucks knowledge from mystery, uses his terminology and once he changes their lives, they go off on their own claiming a new brand. Give the man who pioneered this shit some credit and if you want to come out with some new shit, call it your own. Love systems is great. Let it continue to build its own name, so people won’t scratch their heads when you try to explain it to them.
